The BattleLab Robotica phenomenon is the result of the collaboration between the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University and the student organisation BEST Cluj-Napoca, which joined their forces to create a unique event in Cluj-Napoca, an international robot sumo competition. The theme of the competition is the implementation of autonomous sumo-robots, able to identify and eliminate the opponent robot from the game surface. This concept originally appeared in Japan in the late ‘80s, as an attempt to combine tradition and technology. The phenomenon is steadily growing, evolving from wood and plastic robots to real demonstrations of state-of-the-art technologies. The contest is open to all students from Technical Universities around the world, eager to explore and boost their creativity, team spirit or passion for the technical field. If you don’t feel all that prepared, don’t worry! We work side by side with skilled professors and trainers who will guide you in the process of building your robot. This year’s edition will take place on May 25, in the P03 amphitheatre on George Barițiu Street.
